Hi Folks,,

Sorry but im fed up reading up on all this,, Had a lot of trouble getting my ssd alaignment right on XP pro, cut a long story short...
I have ordered a copy of windows7 pro to install on the ssd.:(

Can anyone offer any advice as to what drivers best to use or will W7 use the best ones for it all on its own? And should I still use the intel toolbox

Ta for now ;)

Not sure I agree that the Intel drivers are not an improvement but do make sure you delete the existing partiton and create a new one when you install Win 7 otherwise it will retain XP's ****** up alignment. If you do install the Intel drivers you can easly TRIM manually or on a schedule with their Toolbox.

Well thats something I never thought of!!!
Though I presume everyone installs there chipset drivers, so must be ok

Well after a week of messing around, im stuck!!!!
got my new win7 disk to install on the ssd (hoping to overcome the whole alignment problems)
Before with xp when I set alignment it would'nt boot,, as in it would just sit at the ahci bios without detecting anything!!!

Now with trying to install win7, that correctly does the alignment.
Im faced with the same thing,, just sits at the ahci bios screen.

have tried lots of different setting in the bios but still same.
Seems to work ok if I set to ide mode, but the whole point in buying the ssd & win7
was so that things would all work at there best.

Not even sure if I end up having to use IDE mode, how much of an effect on performance it will make, not to mention if Trim will work ok in win7.

Would love to hear any advise, Im pulling my hair out

If it's failing while still on the SATA BIOS screen then it wasn't a Windows issue to begin with. Any BIOS updates available for your mb?
