Interctive whiteboards

Actually at my university it's the pull-down projector screens that they love to use markers on. Not seen a permanant marker on a Smartboard yet. :D

"I pulled the screen down and it stuck halfway and now it won't go up or down..."

"...you *pulled* the automated screen down? The one with the remote control?"

"...yes...I was in a hurry..."

Pop over to edugeek.net forums, you'll find a lot of people with firsthand experience of whiteboards.

Smartboards are very easy to use (important if they're being used by teachers).

The fact you can use these Hitachi boards as a dry-wipe board also sounds rather promising.

Getting a fair bit of conflicting information here though ha-ha.

We use Smart boards here, and at the college I went to a couple of years ago. Cant say a bad thing about them really.

I don't really have any gripes with the hardware, but I do loath the software that your required to use :(

I must admit I quite like the Promethean boards :)

Why do you not like the Smartboard software? Its easy to install and use and it isn't packed with rubbish.

It used to be quite buggy, although I admit that has improved. I just find it cumbersome, like when it decides to annotate the desktop rather then let you load the program or what ever you wanted to do.

I went to college a couple of years ago where the teachers used SMARTboards. They were very good once the teachers managed to figure them out. Now I'm at Uni and all my lectures are done using projected slide-shows. Not a SMARTboard to be found, travesty! I thought...
But then it dawned on me, why the heck aren't we using writing tablets?

They're cheaper than SMARTboards, and can be used with the already installed projectors in most lecture theatres.

We have three of these at work. They were bought about a year ago and are still yet to be used :(

These sound like they may be too complex for what i'm looking for really, are the cambridge ones good enough?

Very much so.

If you click on the 'where to buy' page there will be a list of resellers who can demo it for you. Always best to see them in action eh ? :D

These are available for Smartboards, infact you dont need a smartboard just a projector with the notebook software installed.

Mostly SMARTboards at my university - but there have been some new labs install with stuff that looks distinctly different.

SMART cant be that fragile

they use them in my mums school and its one of those schools where kids who are too "angry" for normal schools go
