Today was just another typical day at work, I was sitting at the radar console observing one of my mentors. I noticed a group of people come into the ops. room, apparently a group of pilots who were on a familiarisation visit to see how things work from ATC's point of view. One of my colleagues sat one of the pilots down beside us and introduced us...
"Guys, this is Bruce, he's a pilot on a famil. visit, do you mind if he sits in?"
"Hi Bruce, nice to meet you, I'm........etc.."
So this guy Bruce is asking questions on how certain things work and the like. Nothing out of the ordinary. I decided it's time to take a break.
"It's time I took a break, again, nice meeting you Bruce"
I was walking out the door towards the rest room and another of my colleagues came up to me and said, "Well whjat was he saying, did you get his autograph?"
"Eh? What do you mean?"
"Did you not ask him for his autograph?"
"Who?"
"Bruce Dickinson!"
" WHAT!?
"
"That was Bruce Dickinson in there"
"WTF LOL BBQ"
As a big metal fan and a follower of Iron Maiden I can't believe I didn't recognise him. I get to meet and shake hands with one of the most legendary rock/metal stars ever and I don't even realise it. I'm gutted now as he was gone by the time I got back.
Oh well!
