Ever since I bought my Baja, I presumed this was an oil cooler from a previous engine installation.

Now I'm towing a teardrop regularly, I want to add some additional cooling - so I was going to plumb it in. Only, now I've taken a second look, I'm a bit confused as to what the hell this thing is?

There's an inlet, but no outlet. So what can it be for, any ideas?

Obviously looks like a cooler of some sort with the fins. Are you sure it doesn't come out, only goes in? unless it was part of the original Beetle and wasn't needed yet was left in place?

Definately not part of the original beetle.

I should try attaching a pipe to the inlet and blowing. I would have tried earlier, but I was wearing a work shirt and didn't want to get oil on it.

Looks like there should be an outlet on the same end as the inlet, you sure it hasn't just corroded and snapped off?
Winner. :p

I attached a pipe and blew on it. The hole was the same end, just full of crap and virtually invisible. It is literally just a hole, so it looks like new oil cooler time.

Thanks for the replies. :)
