I'm not sure it is to think it - in fact with some things that are measured objectively you can pretty much know it - it doesn't have to apply to niche things - stuff like IQ, income... even attractiveness can be known or inferred empirically and in relation to the rest of the population

though I do agree with you partly in that openly posting about claims in some areas could be pretty crass
