Intermitant post problems? Should I RMA

My ASUS A8n32sli motherboard looks to i believe has died. I had another post about this see http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17683886

Im concered that when I send the board back there is maybe something i didnt cover or try.

If I send it back and they say for example manage to get it to boot somehow, from the look of the support section they will charge me. As the other day it was intermitantly booting then after ressetting the cmos it would work again.

I did a open build outside the case to make sure and this time I could not even get even any beeps on the board say whenever the ram is not connected cmos reset or not, so its toast isnt it?

The reason I am skeptical is that I had problems posting before and normally the CMOS reset fixes it, as I managed to get it to boot there should be some way of getting into the BIOS and reseeting defaults.

Then again if I restart and there is no sign of post then this would indicate a motherboard problem?

I just have a gut feeling that clockers will turn around to me and say its something that I have overlooked.

Gonna try and do another open build now, is there any suggestions?

I am so thinking about replacing it with an Intel setup very soon!

turn it on and hold f11! this will default the Cpu clocks and mem clocks back to standard, giving you chance to nose around in the bios. Make sure its nothing to do with memlock timings, i posted here about that before. Lock it to 200Mhz and see how u get on.

Just made some progess, I rebuilt the machine and Iam now able to get into windows, Im fact I am using it now to type this.... When I restart I am going to be having the same problem.

When I restart the machine, reboot windows, or press the reset switch, it will not boot. It sits there just with the fans spinning. However, when I remove the battery set the jumper to reset leave it for 5 mins and press <Insert> it boots fine. The system is 100% stable.

I was able to boot into windows and reflash the BIOS, however I am still having the same problem. I have now swap tested Core compoents expect the CPU but I doubt its this.

I have to goto dinner now gonna leave the system on, When I get back I am gonna try when you said and try attaching a cd rom and booting from the motherboard cd, to recover the BIOS from there.

The only other thing I can think of is I have to RMA the board on the bases something on the board has gone and its not updating correctly. Its a very wierd problem.

Gonna try F11 on boot as well.
