Hey guys, im having problems with my internet dropping out, but its only on one PC. All my other wireless devices are performing fine, however this PC (ethernet connected) is performing fine for one minute, then the next it hangs or comes up with a DNS error, only to work again briefly a minute later.

Its been fine up until yesterday and i havent messed with any settings or anything. Chrome says to check the proxy settings but from what i can see theres no proxy enabled.

Using Vista Ultimate 64bit, all up to date with the latest drivers for everything. The only real weak link hardware wise I can see there being is the fact that im using an Belkin ethernet home plug thing, where the connetion travels through the mains, but its been flawless and all the lights indicate that nothing is wrong...

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem or have any suggestions?

Thanks :)

I'd take the powerline technology out of the equation first (go wireless or use a long cat5/6 ethernet cable if possible) to determine if the problem lies there. If the problem is happening that often it shouldn't be too long before you can rule out the homeplugs and look towards the PC itself.

Yeah I was considering that, looks like ill have to either find a large reel of cat5 or shift the whole computer to beside my router :)

The next thing to try when it drops is if you can ping an IP. First try and ping your router, then try and ping 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS Server). If you can, it's purely a DNS problem, not equipment. Setting the aforementioned IP in your preferred DNS server will get you round the issue.
