Intermittent RAM issues

My PC has some RAM issues which can't be figured out what is causing it.

1. A random particular RAM stick suddenly does not get detected by all 4 slots.
2. A RAM slot suddenly goes "dead".

These 2 problems can be fixed by
1. Power off and on again.
2. Reseating RAM sticks.
3. Clearing CMOS.

I've tried with several types of RAM sticks (which are working well) and I get the same problem, so I suspect something is wrong with the motherboard. I've also tried different slot patterns while testing with 2 sticks, 12, 13, 14, 23, 24.
