Hey, looking to fly to Exeter in February next year, I've managed to find a same day return for £60 which is from a company called Flybe. Not really clued up on this and Ocuk usually has at least one person who can give pretty good advice. Just wondering if I should book this flight ASAP as I'm not sure what happens with price increases, or if prices drop closer the date to get rid of flights? Any help would be appreciated as I'm not really used to travelling if it isn't for a pre-booked holiday.

I've checked trains already and the cheapest return fare I have found is £100 so thats out of the question really. My friend has offered to drive me but it costs £60 in petrol plus if we drove we would have to book a hotel because it's a really long drive and it would be a bit dangerous for her not to sleep.

I can fly from either Manchester, Blackpool or Liverpool airports as I am from the Wigan area.

Thanks in advance!

P,S sorry if this doesn't make sense, I am pretty tired but worrying about this a bit!

Cheapest I can find is also about £60, I would imagine they will get more expensive unless it's a last minute thing (in which case you might not get a flight at all).

make sure thar 60 quid is with taxes and what not usually the flights look uber cheap and then when you attempt to buy one the real price is shown

Take like 4 hours each way to drive or something...?

Leave yours at 9 ish, get there at 1. Give her some food or something...she can drive back and be home for 7 ready for Emmerdale. :)

Theres a decent chance train tickets will get cheaper, i find quite often when i look 2 months ahead they are more than when i wait another month and book them.

Ok thanks a lot for the help. it's imperative we get there for 9am -ish and this would require leaving by car at about 4-5am and she works til 1 on the evening before so she (my friend) wouldn't have chance to get any sleep. I'm having a rather blonde moment and can't appreciate the above comments, sorry :p

Also, how soon in advance do you usually have to arrive for internal flights?

Oi! What's wrong with FlyBE?

Beats RyanAir/ Jet2 any day of the week.... Not usually that expensive either.

Shocking punctuality, poor customer service and extortionate fares. I used to use them regularly for flights to Belfast. My Spanish flatmate at the time consistently got cheaper fares to Madrid with BA!

i'd imagine it beeing a lot easier to fill a flight to madrid , the less popular destinations will always be expensive

True, but the Belfast route is very popular and the aircraft is usually full to capacity. At an average of £180-£220 for a return ticket, it's not exactly low cost either. I can often fly business class with BMI out of Heathrow for cheaper.

Why don't you drive then? Assuming you can drive, 240 mile journey is nothing.

obviously book ASAP.
they'll have a set amount of seats at the cheapest fare. once these sell out, only the next cheapest fare will be available.

price drops only occur on certain routes on certain airlines at certain times.
and it really is a last minute thing. i doubt you'll get any on flybe to exeter

I use them into BFS quite a lot too, as that is where my company's offices are. Can't say I have had many punctuality issues with them at all.

Jet Poo (Jet2) on the other hand.......
