Internal or External

Not sure why but i've always wanted an external drive, maybe because i think they look cool having a block on my desk with a big light on it

Either way, what would be faster as i'm looking at getting a 1tb, possibly 2tb drive?

Internal?
External USB?
External Firewire?

I will from time to time plug it to my laptop or if i can connect it through my gigabit lan then even better.

My motherboard is a DFI NF4 Ultra SLI-DR, so not sure about esata? What is it ? lol
