Hi guys n gals,
Bit of background for you...
I have built a media PC which contains rips of all my blu-rays and DVDs, or at least will when I get them all done.
I don't compress my movies, meaning they can be anywhere between 8Gb for a 45min TV show to 35Gb for the likes of a long movie like Avatar.
Once my second HDD arrives tomorrow I will be running 2 SATA III disks, 1x 3TB and 1x 4TB. I then run a 60Gb OCZ SSD for Windows 8 and programs.
My issue is this. This is a huge backup operation, and I would cry if I one day booted up to find a corrupt disk.
If I was to buy the EXACT same 3Tb and 4Tb hard drives again, is there a special enclosure - or something - that will basically let me store these 2 drives in it, so effectively it works as a large external hard drive, and then I can just run my backup software and have the live disks sync up to these backup ones?
These 2 drives together would total maybe £350 which is a hell of a lot cheaper than a £600 NAS, which is probably my only other option (right?).
Any input on how I can go about this, or other suggestions on going about it a different way, would be great.
Thanks again for your help,
Mark
