International Friendlies/Euro 2020 Warm Ups ** spoilers ** [2nd - 9th June 2021]

This has been mostly poor, but then I’ve watched a lot of international football in the past week and virtually every game I’ve watched has been ****

He's outstanding. You sometimes get young forwards burst on the scene but you don't often see a 17 year old central midfielder look at home at this level so quickly.

Indeed it’s ridiculous how young he is, what a talent.

This, it’s beginning to look like we should use Germany as a finishing school for all our best prospects.

Man United were in for him but wouldn't match the money Birmingham wanted. We wasted it on some winger from Atalanta who has yet to show anything for his money (he cost more than Bellingham.)

Any evidence for this claim? As I understood it he simply chose Dortmund, likely because they were going to play him straight away.

That seems to be the main driving force in players going to Germany, it’s a good thing if you ask me there is no substitute for playing real matches.

Fabregas was the last one I can remember being that good at a young age. However I'm tempted to suggest that he burnt out quite early. Bellingham made a smart move going to Dortmund and I hope he stays and learns there for another couple of seasons. It will do him good in the long term.

I remember Jamie Carragher's analogy that a car engine has a certain amount of miles before it bites the dust and players work in a similar fashion. You have the odd exception to the rule with players like Ronaldo but so many who burst into the first team at an early age end up finished by 30 (Owen, Rooney, Fabregas etc) . Likewise the other way around. Players like Ian Wright and Vardy have had very good careers in their later years because they come to the top later in life.
