International Friendlies/WC Qualifiers [24th - 29th March 2022]

Not surprised? It’s North Macedonia lmao

The way they played is the way NI played...you cant pass round a solid back 5 with no height to target.

- Missed penalties
- Missed chances (first.half)
- Nobody in squad who could offer something else (At least Ballotelli would have been a good option)

Italy found out months ago

It just goes to show how average Italy really are and how badly managed the England team are. We should have buried them last summer.

How dare you. Southgate is a top class manager who navigated one of the hardest runs to a final you will ever see with players who would be lucky to get in the North Macedonia team.

Even in the Euros their painful lack of a striker was obvious, Immobile is just not good enough outside his bizarrely good scoring record in Serie A

When you look at his record, of his 21 Serie A goals so far this season, only 5 have come against Top 10 teams, which drops to just 2 if you look at Top 5 teams (both vs Inter).

There can't have been too many world class players who have wasted more of their career than Gareth Bale. His goals yesterday were ridiculous and without him, Wales are about 1/4 the team. Such a shame that he hasn't played more over the years. I know his trophy cabinet is amazing and that there is no doubt that he contributed to all of them but he could have done so much more.

Delusional - England were heavily outclassed in the final, it was lucky to get to penalties. How? Because unlike NM and NI, England actually want to score goals and move forward.

The problem is that Italy can only make space with the movement when there is space. NM like NI didn't attack - they just sat deep and went for long ball counter. Mancini had the option to bring in other forwards to mix it up, he didn't and people like Insigne, Immobile etc are all the same type of person (I personally don't rate either of them). Sure Spina and maybe Chiesa may have been helpful, but without a tall man upfront or at least a target man, it was all the same stuff. Me and others knew Italy would struggle to break them down, we weren't wrong.

Yet again, fine margins in the other group games which Italy have massively dominated - Switzerland, Bulgaria, NI, NM - missed penalties, missed chances (that Barardi almost open goal yesterday - yikes). Shouldn't have even been in the playoffs if they got put away.

Will Mancini go? Who knows, but he needs to think about his line-up so it offers more options.
