International Friendlies/WC Qualifiers [24th - 29th March 2022]

Delusional - England were heavily outclassed in the final, it was lucky to get to penalties. How? Because unlike NM and NI, England actually want to score goals and move forward.

The problem is that Italy can only make space with the movement when there is space. NM like NI didn't attack - they just sat deep and went for long ball counter. Mancini had the option to bring in other forwards to mix it up, he didn't and people like Insigne, Immobile etc are all the same type of person (I personally don't rate either of them). Sure Spina and maybe Chiesa may have been helpful, but without a tall man upfront or at least a target man, it was all the same stuff. Me and others knew Italy would struggle to break them down, we weren't wrong.

Yet again, fine margins in the other group games which Italy have massively dominated - Switzerland, Bulgaria, NI, NM - missed penalties, missed chances (that Barardi almost open goal yesterday - yikes). Shouldn't have even been in the playoffs if they got put away.

Will Mancini go? Who knows, but he needs to think about his line-up so it offers more options.

I never said Italy were not the better team in the final. They clearly were. What I am saying is that England's squad is on a different level to Italy's and should be doing better.

If Mancini was managing England it would have been a total whitewash.

True - I mistook as that (apologies, easily done).

I feel England's defence just isn't good enough at the top level. Maguire? Pickford? Make me uncomfortable.

Now if it was Italy's defence, with Verratti and England's forward line (maybe an inclusion for Chiesa) - Perfect! :D

Nice to see everyone had a good time watching this then lol.

Oh and nice one Southgate. Play the fella with a patchy injury record for a full 90. Idiot. Kane didnt need to play 88 either.

Still annoys me more than it should the way kits get swapped about.

England are playing at home.
England first choice kit is white shirts.
For some reason, England are playing in Blue, which I assume is the 3rd choice kit after Red.
Switzerland, who have a first choice shirt of Red, are playing in White.

So the end result is the away team are wearing the shirt colours of the home team, and the home team are wearing their 3rd kit?

Why couldn't they just play proper colours White vs Red.
I know it will be due to commercials wanting to shift different kits to keep the sponsors happy, so I can answer my own mini-rant, but still irks me a bit.

Did you lot not watch the Euros :p

Southgate is a dour and depressing manager who serves up dross in the attempt to not lose games. Winning is secondary. We have a really exciting bunch of players and he is going to waste them.
