My home setup

VM cable modem plugged into router, and into that the 2 main PC are eternet linked, WDTV Live also connected to same router.

Lastevening once, and twice this evening internet connectivity seems to have failed. The modem appears to work fine, and a reboot didn;t resolve the issue on the win7 or the vista machine, but a reboot of the router did. As far as i could tell yahoo and msn were still connected, it was all browser traffic and downloads that seemed to have failed.

Power off router, power it back on, and all appears to be running smoothly, if it had occurred once I would have thought nothing more of it, but twce in one evening is rather strange.

Anyone getting this also? Or anyone have any ideas on a cause and possible steps to resolve the situation?

(CableModem Router Computer combo working flawlessly for 2 years now, nothing changed very recently)

Just happened again.
No clue as to why this is occurring, all has been working fine throughout the day, net connection appears fine, then suddenly no more internet updates.
Widnows network diagnostics reports all setup fine, but unable to find host (ms.com).

Pulling the power from the router and plugging it back in forces win7 to reconnect and all works fine again. Started 2 days ago, never had an issue and been running this config for a long time.

Anyone have any ideas?

Right it just did it again.
I am on virginmedia if that affects anything, and resetting the router fixed it once more.

All settings seemed fine, querying the router, it behaved as normal with no changes in settings.

It seemed to have some sort of DOS blocking within its setup from 10.5.128.1 whereever that is.

My wife could play LOTRo fine throughout, I could receive email, I could talk on both msn and yahoo fine. Mumble server worked fine for chat, but no internet pages would resolve, all sites gave errors of not responding.

Has anyone any ideas whats causing this?

Would do but I have nothing available.

Its cable, so I would like a modem with gigabit, and capable of wireless functioning, with at least 4 ports for ethernet.

Recommendations on that please?

Okay going to bump my own thread as I now have more information.

I can reproduce the situation which leads to the http traffic cutting out.
As i said all other traffic up and down keeps going, but http gets stopped in both directions on occasion.

If one uses a photobook website, such as blurb.com tescophotobook.com kodacphoto.com or photobox.com, and try to upload your album prior to it generating the album, the traffic is killed at some stage during the upload, often instanenously.
Other smaller uploads work, such as msn picture transfers (they might not be http actually), but larger uploads seem to simply gank the connection at the router level.

Is this a router issue? As its the router that needs reset when it happens.
Either the vista pc or the win7 pc can generate the same condition when such an upload is started.

As said before I am on VM 20mbit, and not over upload or download limits or within the traffic shaping times.
Router is a Belkin F5D8230-4 which has seemingly worked fine for years.
