Internet Browser help!! please!

Hello, a friend of mine used to be on bt inteernet dial up, but has just got ntl broadband but after the engineer installed the modem he left the cd and went. So he installed it but he still cant use the internet, he phoned ntl and they said its browser settings!

What settings should he have, they are the same as my ntl ones!

could it be because of btinternet, i did notice on his browser it has a bt symbol in the top right which i didnt think should be there.

Don't worry about the little icon, but there are a few things to check. Have you friend open up a command prompt and type in:
"ipconfig" (without the ""s) and then hit enter.
"ping www.google.com" (without the ""s) and hit enter.

What does it come back with? It could be his proxy or connection settings are screwy, or his machine hasn't got an IP, or just an NTL transparent proxy has gone **** up.

Have the old BT internet settings been deleted?

yeah i deleted the old settings, but it keeps popping up saying i havent finished registration with bt when i start a new iexplorer window
