Internet Connection Help

Hey

I have a notebook which is connected to my router via WiFi but when I plug in an ethernet cable the network icon in the system tray keeps saying "disconnected from network" every now and then with the animation of it trying to connect.

Any help?

It also does this when I turn off my WiFi, and it does have the ethernet drivers installed on the notebook.

Notebook is a HP MINI 110, Windows XP Home edition SP3.

is the network card enabled in device manager? how up to date are the ethernet drivers? is the power connected? i know some notebooks disable to ethernet port if there is no mains power connected....

Is it being plugged into the correct port of the router? ie not the ones to connect in modems and the like.

Yeah the cable is in the right port (I use it for my PS3 aswell) It does this when it is plugged into the mains also. and how would I find drivers for the ethernet?

you could try restting the router to default settings or setup the network settings again in window.
