Internet connection software (cut off at a time)

Does anyone know of any software available which will disconnect a particular logged in user at a certain time from the Internet?

Note: its NTL Cable modem using a LinkSys wireless router (although the particular workstation on which the restriction is required is wired to the router).

Brother (I'm not playing dad here, I'm researching on his behalf!) seems uncapable of leaving his MSN friends before 2am, or worse on the weekends so an automatic disconnection at 1.30 or before would be nice.

Cheers for any help

Timed port filtering? just block all ports for say 1.30 to 7.

Yeah but I want to still be able to access the internet if necessary, just we want him to be offline and into bed at a decent time....

stop playing dad and let him get on with it, why is it your concern? You can block all the ports you like and MSN will still work as it falls back onto 80, and unless you want to nuke your own web access then it aint happening.

I'm researching on behalf of my dad as I explained above.

Its the source of many an argument at 1.30am etc when my dad finds he is still online on a school night. (he is 13). These arguments can become quite vocal and abusive so obviously must be stopped.

your dad should lay down the law then, the way my dad worked it when I was that age was that if I was on the internet at that time, watching porn or whatever then the pc would quite simply be thrown out of the window. I did not misbehave, mind you I knew he wasnt bluffing.

I have zone alarm but it's the paid version so not sure about the free version.

But you can set up time ranges and things like that to block ports, this means you don't have to muck about with your router and just sort out his side of it.

But he'll uninstall it, I hear you all shout.

Nay! You can password protect it.

What model is the router?

Many routers allow you to block internet access to specified network PC's at various times.

On my WRT54GL (flashed with 3rd party firmware) I can have full 24 hours access on my PC and restrict every other PC to internet access from 9am-5pm for example.
