Hey all,
I'm thinking of getting a 360 possibly in the next few months or so, was wondering what connection speed do I need to experience Live with no lag?
Atm I have a 512k Internet connection.

depends on the server your on, even with the best connections it can lag at times. Standard 1mb is usually sufficient.

Can't see there being a problem with 512kbps, it's not as if the 360 has any games like BF2 where you can have 64 players bouncing around a map. GoW is what, 8 players at the most online? Can't see it pushing 512k that much at all tbh, just don't download anything in the background while you're playing.

Thats why it depends on the server, game etc, some games will be lag free with 512kbps but others will lag to hell no matter what your connection speed is.

When BT was in the middle of sorting out my connection I was getting close to dialup speeds (about 75k) and I could play on Live fine. No lag. 512k will be more than enough.

On a 512k connection you can host just fine, its only the upload speed which is the same right up to 2mb.

256k can run and host games just fine, if you get someone with a really high ping it will throw everyone off, why I try to game with people I know are in the UK as it helps no end.

If its a broadband connection it will work with any game out at the moment, think one says it requires a 256kbs connection for online play but I can not remmember which one its on.

Ahhh thats great news! That was my initial worry as Live is one of the things I'm really looking for to use!Time to save up! :D

Thats not strictly true, I couldn't hope to host a game of ghost recon with more than 4-6 people in on the upload speed I get at home, less on Co-op. Games where you are only playing one or two people at a time are fine to host though.

That'll be the same on pretty much any ADSL though, but I suppose MaxDSL would be a bit better with potentially 448Kbps up on home connections as opposed to the 256Kbps on the old 512/1Mbps/2Mbps ADSL services.
