I hope someone here may know whats going on because this is starting to realy annoy me as i need internet access for my coursework.

Wednesday night I was playing aion when suddenly I lost all internet connectivity. I check router, all fine, i try log into cable modem but no response. I go check it and the lights a flashing, as well as that on my cable set top box. Internet was compleatly down, and the TV lost picture/sound for a few moments at times. The next day everything was fine, untill late at night when the internet connectivity was screwed up again (this time no flashing lights on the modem/STB, and the TV was fine). This has happened every night now.

Connection was fine today, I get home, load up aion and a couple min later here it goes again.

Looking at my routers realtime bandwidth log, i can see that the connection just flat-lines. Sometimes for 30 min, sometimes for just 30 seconds. If its just for a few seconds then it starts working again but eventully drops dead over and over.

I've tried contact VM using newsgroups (first time ive used a text newsgroup, and newsbin seems rubish at dealing with text based stuff, fine for binary but for text, and posting to groups is troublesome), and got a reply saying he is unable to see a problem on the network that is causing this, and that he couldnt connect to my modem to run diagnostics.

I posted a reply back with modem statistics, but its not showing up on usenet? Does it take some time before the message is shown on usenet after i send it? its been over 2 horus now and my message still isn't showing up, although for some reason I can update and get nothing new, but many hours later I could update and get tons of messages, including some that should have been there when i previously clicked update.

Well the tech support guy on usenet finaly got back to me and said there seems to be a lot of FEC errors at my UBR, and an engineer is looking in to it. He gave me a reference number, does anyone know if its possible to go online with this reference number and look at the progress of whats being done, just like the online tickets? Or is the reference number i was given only for if i want to phone them, or need to make more usenet posts?

Whereabouts are you?
In Livingston here
Been having similar issues this week, though not sure if it started wednesday or thursday, late afternoon my TV and cable also went out and ever since been getting dropouts in the evening that usually clear up by around 8

Im in Kent, connected to the grays UBR. If you do what I did and state your problem on the virgin media cable problems newsgroup the tech support are very fast (and you skip all of the indian middle men on the phone) and they can remotely check your UBR to see if its the same problem I had or something else.
