I use orange broadband and have done for years.

My internet package gives me 8mb internet, but my download speeds have always been pretty terrible.

When downloading anything I never see over 320kps. Infact its pretty much constantly at 320kps no matter what time of day/night or what i'm downloading.

Last night I downloaded a patch for battlefield 3 and for about 30 mins I saw speeds of 650kps. Afterwards I tried other downloads to see if i'd magically got more speed, but alas was downloading at the usual 320kps.

Can anyone explain please why this is likely to happen, because i've always been told by Orange that my line is only capable of the 320kps download speeds, yet this is obviously not correct?

Thanks for any help

Origin reports download speed incorrectly. It does a lot of things incorrectly or poorly so it's no big surprise really.

Yeah the patch i got on bf3 was saying somit like 900k a sec which i can only manage max atm of 450/500k a sec. So obviously something wrong with speed detection in the code for origin file transfer.
