Internet Explorer issues

I am aware other browsers exist. I do not want this thread to be about other browsers - just specifically Internet Explorer :p

For a while now, IE9 has been playing up. It will frequently decide it needs to use 25% of my CPU for no apparent reason. Tabs will often lock up completely and stop responding requiring me to close and reload them. Sometimes the entire browser instance will lock up, use half my CPU and force me to kill the task.

This has happened across several re-formats so I don't think its an addon issue. Is this generally what IE is like these days? I've used it for years without any issues, I like the way it works, I like the asthetics, etc etc. But I'm getting to the stage where if there is not a way to resolve these issues, it has to go.

Anyone else have the same problem? I probably have a tab lock up every 20 minutes!

Thanks!

I had something similar with IE 32 bit and then switched to 64 bit which seemed to work fine. After a re-format my 32 bit works fine again. I think there are problems with IE if you use an old verion of the CPU Meter desktop widget.

Have a go with 64 bit IE if you have not already.

Happens to me on occasion when I have a few tabs open. I think it may be down to a flash plugin as I don't think I've ever had it happen when just browsing a 'standard' webpage.

Been using it on a fresh install with the following addons:
Spellie
Tracking Protection - built in
flash

Got no problems with IE atm.

using 0% CPU & 60MB Ram with 3 tabs

id try disabling each addon (specially avg) had simlair with kaspersky plugin for firefox

I've had this since the last Flash update. If a page is particularly SWF heavy it crashes the tab.

I find that disabling Flash in the Addons clears the problem up. However the ball is firmly in Adobe's court here I believe, rather than Microsoft's.

Not much point, IE9 x64 doesn't use the new Chakra JS Engine so you get performance on par with that of IE8.
