Hi all,

Been having a problem with internet access and I'm trying to nail down the cause. The problem seems to happen mostly in the evenings. Basically, at the moment, of all the websites I can think of, the only ones I can access are OcUK and thinkbroadband.com. Every other website just times out. I can't tracert any of the websites I can't access (just hangs after I type the command, doesn't even resolve the address). This happens in Firefox and IE. Steam can't access web pages but can connect to my account okay.
Eventually it seems to go away and I can get to every website again, but it soon comes back and it seems to be getting more frequent. My ISP is Demon (theirs is one of the websites I can't access); I've checked their service status and various forums for them, and nobody else seems to be having problems. I'd go through their support, but I'd prefer to know if there's anything else I can try before I wait in the queue.
I access the net through a wired router, and have tried restarting it and reconnecting to the net - the problem persists.
Any help appreciated!

Is it the same if you restart your machine? Is it set to use the router as a DNS server, or Demon directly?
It sounds like some sort of DNS issue if it can't even resolve the addresses.

My ISP is Demon. I've just realised that restarting the computer does sort it out, tho I have restarted it a number of times since I've had this problem, so something must break along the way. I don't know where my pooter is getting DNS from - all the TCP/IP DNS-related settings are set to automatic - how might I find out?

Yeah, it's set to use the router for DNS addresses. The router is a Belkin wireless affair that I bought in a hurry one evening - seemed to be up the job until now tho.
