Internet keeps going down

I recently moved into a new flat (student accommodation), the internet is provided here and we used it last year and the year before and it was fine. I even brought up my own router which is better than the crap ones they provide you with and before people say yes I've tried another router and the problem persists.

Basically I moved in on Tuesday and the internet was absolutely fine, I'm wired into the router etc. And I get good speeds and ping and it's fine. Tuesday another friend moves in, there is now two of us and again the internet is fine. Come the weekend every 30 minutes to 1 hour the internet just drops and then takes 5 minutes to reconnect again. It's really infuriating if I'm trying to play games online. Anyway tonight it was absolutely terrible I disconnected about 4 times in 15 minutes as you can see below.

Looking at the routers log it comes up with the following:

Code:
Mon, 2014-07-21 22:21:44 - LCP down.
Mon, 2014-07-21 22:21:53 - Initialize LCP.
Mon, 2014-07-21 22:21:53 - LCP is allowed to come up.

Is this anything to do with my end or is it purely down to the ISP. If so I will ring them up tomorrow day time.

On my router the DSL light stays green and flashes all the time but the Internet light goes red when it disconnects, then goes blank, then goes green when it finally reconnects.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

Can you get router stats?

LCP Down is a bit generic - could be the line losing sync for a number of reasons from filtering issues your end, line conditions or a problem at anywhere between that and the DSLAM or whatever equivalent is in use.

Code:
ADSL Link Downstream	Upstream
Connection Speed	12679 kbps	1203 kbps
Line Attenuation	37.0 db 23.0 db
Noise Margin 5.9 db 5.7 db

What other info do you need?

Any error stats - FEC, CRC, etc.? though from the look of the sync and noise margin you shouldn't really be suffering from line disconnections unless something is causing 1 off faults i.e. a filtering problem causing the line to drop when someone puts the phone down.

My xilo connection would do this all of the time, tried 3 different routers and they all produced a log that looked like the one in the OP.

Never had it before on any ISP and never seen it since moving on from Xilo.

I'd be talking to your ISP about this and asking them to monitor your connection from their end

It was much better today

Got up around 7am and it was the regular every half hour up till 10am then I didn't get a single DC till 2:30pm and then I got 2 in a row and I haven't had any since.

Hopefully it was some fault that they picked up and sorted themselves if it starts happening again I'll ring them.
