Being on bt we have a usage limit of 40gig a month. As of yet the house isnt full, but if the limit is being reach i being the sole owner of the line want to know who is using it the most.

I will insist on a usage monitor for individuals.
Can someone recommend a program that will give me bandwith usuage satistic, thats will send me the data periodically for when i sign on?

I would also like it to be able to cap bandwith remotely if necessary.

Thanks

You could build a basic linux box running squid proxy and sarg - get everyone to log on with a userID and then use sarg (reporting tool) to find out how much people are downloading per day.

Do you have a router? Does it support SNMP?

I run http://www.paessler.com/prtg on a spare box thats acting as a server/bandwidth limiter for our wireless.

At the moment we have the dumb bt wite box u see in the adverts, havent had a chance to fiddle with it yet, so im not sure, but i doubt it.

Dont have a spare box, so was hoping to get a firewall like program that i can control basically like a trojan.
If the router will except uploads to it, is there a program that can be used on it?
