Internet problem?

I cant get my PC on the net, using a Netgear router off a normal BT line (NO CABLE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT) used to work, formated my pc and now being an arse, works fine on this pc but not mine, click repair connection and says it cant due to no TCP/IP please contact administrator.grrrrr

Any ideas?

On the PC that works check whether you have manually assigned an IP Address in connection properties.
And do the same thing on the PC that doesn't work.

Obviously if it is manually assigned give it a different IP on the same address range.

The one that works is auto. Mine wont work on auto or manual. Used to be fine on manual tho. grrrr! Installed ethernet drivers fine but no workies even after re installing them!

Its saying it cant renew IP address when I click repair connection at min.

MAC addressee filtering on in the router?

Log into your router and go to Filtering or MAC Filtering.

If there are entries let us know and we will tell you how to find out your computers MAC Address.

However, I doubt it is MAC Address filtering unless he is using a different Ethernet adaptor to what he was using in the old install as the MAC Address stays with the Ethernet adaptor not the PC. - I think I got that right.

Netgear routers usually use 192.168.0.1 as their IP Address.

Try 192.168.0.1 in your internet browser such as Firefox or IE.

cheers they are the right numbers as checked in manual(on CD), but not working even that? Just says page cannot be found

works fine on this pc tho and ive logged in

MAC Address 00:1b:2f:70:fb:dd

That any help?

I can find Mac address on my pc not working just by looking in network settings, its not the same as the one above tho. Is this a problem?
