Internet Problem

My friend, when playing Black Ops. suffers unbearable lag whenever he is in a game. We can never connect to eachothers partys and he lives a couple of doors down from me. His ISP is Virgin and the internet is fine while he is browsing the web. Help would be appreciated.

Could be his router? Which was does he have?

Check what is NAT is set too.

Multiplayer Main Menu > Options > Press "Back" (360) or "Select" (PS3)

the Virgin Router is supposed to have UPNP which means that the ports for xbox live can be opened automatically. But it doesnt work properly on the virgin firmware.

Only way i could get UPNP to work properly with xbox live on my router, was to install the DD-WRT firmware.

Are you reasonably techy ? If so read up and do it for him. He'll be eternally thankful

Just make sure you check the sticker under his router to ensure you get the correct firmware for his revision of the hardware.

I have Virgin and had all kinds of problems with Black Ops.

Putting my PS3 in a DMZ sorted it for me.

He could also plug the PS3 directly into the cable modem, but he'd need to reboot the modem every time he did it.
