Hi there everyone,

On Saturday i built my new computer as my old one died, and when i used to connect to the internet i did it using a BT voyager 2100 router that was wired to my Ethernet port on the motherboard on the back of my pc. I'm on BT 8MB, and on my old pc it was usually around 2-6mb which was great.

Now with this new pc i have connected the same way again but im getting download speed of 30kb and below, and it wont go any higher. I have tried using my old modem to connect and it says i have a 6mb line connection, but it still only reaches 30kb/sec . I have also ran a speed test and the result says my download speed is 246kb/sec . Also my XBox 360 is connected via Ethernet through the router too and that connects to live fine, so i'm assuming there may be something wrong with the settings or the motherboard?

I have also installed the latest firmware for the router and reset it but to no avail.

Has anyone ever experienced this before or can anyone recommend what i could do to fix this, its got me stumped :(

Help is greatly appreciated

Motherboard is a ASUS P5K.

(Iknow this isnt a very good first post, but i did have another account but i lost the details to it :<)

You need to try to work out what's the bottleneck - the connection between the PC and router or the connection to the internet.

The BT Speedtest would probably help with the latter, or you could try downloading a file with the 360 and seeing how fast it goes.
Transferring a file between the 360 and PC should give you some measure of the transfer rate between the two, which might eliminate the connection to the router.
