my internet will not connect, everytime i try to access the wireless adapters settings page the window closes, i have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, i have ran a scan on my pc and have no viruses...i duno what to do??

its windows xp home edition and am using internet explorer, its the netgear wireless adapter settigs window which keeps closing

Try using the Windows wireless software (Windows Zero Configuration its called). Should be an option in the Netgear software, to allow it to take control instead.

Not a stupid question.

HijackThis will report a list of possible spyware items on your PC. When you post the log we can see if there are any entries that could possibly be spyware.

Also have you tried reinstalling the Netgear software?

Download it on the PC you are using to a USB disk and plug the USB disk into the other PC?

Try using windows inbuilt wireless manager instead of netgear's software.

Go in to control panel, administrative tools, service and find Zero Wireless on the list. Right click on it and choose properties. Change disabled to automatic then reboot your PC.

With a bit of luck you'll be able to use Zero wireless now.

I had a similar problem on a Win2k machine and ended up using a different adaptor (no Zero on win2k).

ive reinstalled the software and even done a system restore but it keeps doing the same thing, i try to open netgear smart wizard to amend the settings because somehow the settings have automatically changed but i see the window open then it disappears again, il try using the windows inbuilt wireless manager to see what happens

could it be that the drivers are not properly installed? Go to device manager and make sure it is listed under Network adapters.

i have checked in device manager and all the drivers are fine..

today i will try using the windows wireless inbuilt manager...
