hi guys

how the hell do you get this working?

The set up is

talk talk > usb frog > Master pc > switch > Second pc

They can see each other and transfer files etc

BUT the second pc cant get online.

I;ve gone through the home office network setup thing on both pc\'s

but no luck.

any suggestions?

both pcs are windows xp2 sp2

and they refuse to buy a router. :/

do you have dynamic or static addresses on both pcs ?

can you tell me what address scheme you have please on both pcs.

Here is an example

PC1 - Gateway PC (With modem attatched) (Shared connection on LAN)
IP ADDRESS : 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: [leave blank]
DNS1: [leave blank]
DNS2: [leave blank]

PC2 - Client Pc
IP ADDRESS : 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS1: 192.168.1.1
DNS2: 192.168.1.1

That should get you on the pc aslong as you have shared off the LAN connection on the gateway computer to allow access to the Internet on the Client PC (PC2). make sur the firewall is turned off so nothing can interfear while ** testing it.

they are both static

ip\'s are

192.168.0.1
192.168.0.5

What i\'m i suppose to be sharing? The connection the master pc uses to dial? OR the master pc\'s lan connection to the swtich?

Its ages since I did it this method, look on your modem broadband connection and right click the connection, then properties then look for something called shared connection. You need to share the connection on the gateway pc.

Control Panel > network connections > LAN / modem broadband connection

As I'm on LAN I can't check but I do know its there.
