This Interplay press release announces that the game developer, which has basically been in stasis for the past four years or so, is now getting back into internal game development. In the press release the company also states that they have "hired veteran game developer, Jason Anderson, as creative director of a yet unannounced Massively Multiplayer Online Game." Anderson was previously an Interplay team member on the Fallout series before departing to form the now defunct Trokia Games. Interplay sold off its IP rights to the Fallout franchise to Bethesda Softworks earlier this year but retained the rights to make a Fallout based MMO game.

In other news, this Atari press release announces that the company's CEO David Pierce has resigned his position with the company's Chief Restructuring Officer Curtis G. Solsvig III taking over on an interim basis. There is no word on why Pierce resigned. In yet another press release Atari states that it will sell its Test Drive racing franchise to its parent company Infogrames (who owns 51 percent of Atari) for a six year deal that will include two new games in the franchise. Atari also announced that it would concentrate solely on publishing and distribution in North America and will no longer work on the production side of the business. They also plan to lay off team members as part of the company's restructuring but no specific numbers were announced.
