Interrupting a format.

I've just started a full format, writing zeros, verifing and everything... to find out it's going to take 44 hours. There's no cancel button or anything, would it be ok if i just hit the reset button ? or would that cause any damage to the disks?

Ive switched it off when it was doing a format and then restarted and did a quick format
