Interview questions

Hey guys, the application for this has the following 4 questions in it that i'm struggling with.... i'm wondering if you guys can help me understand what kind of answer they're looking for? Especially numbers 2 & 3. Thanks

1) Describe a situation where you had to persuade someone. Explain how you did this and what the outcome was.

2) How did you make your career choice?

3) What ways are you hoping to develop as a person in your career?
-improving skills and experience
-learning about areas which I have not yet had a chance to experience
-anything else?

4) Why did you choose to apply to Croda? What attracted you to this role?

These are questions that only you know the answer to :confused:

Just answer the question really. If someone else answers it, or tells you how to answer it, it's kind of defeating its purpose.

They're pretty unambiguous, so just answer then truthfully.

I didn't ask for people to tell me the answer... I asked what kind of thing the company is looking for. I'm not applying for this job - it's my girlfriend that is - and she asked for my help with the questions cos she's ridiculously busy and I've got lots of time.

They want to know what she thinks. There is no 'help' to the answers, she simply has to tell them about her career choice and how she sees herself developing in her career.

More politically correct:

"Because I believe I have the skillset to be an asset within the company, which would benefit both my own personal development and the company itself. Futhermore, {list a few reasons you like the company}

Personally, I lie. The company lies back to me. We both get what we wanted in the end anyway (which is the trade of money for skills dressed up as something else).

On a slightly related note I was somewhat surprised when I wasn't asked "Why do you want to be a teacher?" at a recent PGCE interview.

Stop wetting myself, be able to dress myself in the morning.

I was pulled over by a rozzer and was rat arsed so I told the pig I had cold and wasn't feeling too well. Anyway, luckily he didn't have a breathalyzer so he had to let me go.

......oh and I ran down and killed two children and an old aged pensioner.

2) How did you make your career choice?

Basically I can apply for anything so long as it doesn't involve unsupervised access to children.

3) What ways are you hoping to develop as a person in your career?

I'd like to beat my record for holding down a job, 4 weeks is my current record.

4) Why did you choose to apply to Croda? What attracted you to this role?

The Job Centre said I must apply for so many jobs a year to keep getting my JSA.

I hate these stupid "on the spot" questions. They are quite unfair IMO; asking you to think about your whole career to date and to identify particular situations is more of a memory test than anything else. All you can do is try and prepare for these moronic random posers.

OP: Try this:

Q: "How did you persuade someone?"
A: "I entered my boxing stance..."
