Interview tommorow for lidl, any tips?

They work em proper hard in Lidl, no time for messing about. We have a Booths near us (Waitrose of the North) and 1 Lidl 18y/o in does the work of 3 in Booths. They seem to treat it as social event, chatting to their mates etc. Not surprising Lidl is hugely cheaper.

also wear what you feel comfortable, i probably wouldnt go in a suit and tie but a shirt and smart trousers should fit the bill.

Well I did say I was willing to work 11-20 + do any overtime so maybe I have bent myself over to them.

Last time I went into Lidl the girl on the checkout (the only one at the time) was filling shelves, moving their big hoover around the floor doing cleaning, and then started running back to the till when the next customer wanted to pay for their goods. Once that customer went and there was no one in the queue she immediately went back to filling shelves and hoovering again. Times that by eight hours and you will certainly earn your £7 an hour.

Yeah Im aware it'll be a lot of multitasking, although I imagine being that busy will make the time go faster :). It isnt a career for me, currently at uni so basically beer money and a lot of it :p, or money to move out etc.
 
Not sure if its changed but i used to work for lidl about 10 years ago. Back then you had pay your own tax and national insurance
 
Arghhh was gonna wear a white shirt but that managed to get a mark in it when being ironed D=. Will be wearing a grey/white shirt now :o. Doubt it'll make much difference though.

is rubbish. Yearly pay rises, plus extra pay if you take on extra jobs (not necessarily extra hours, just being trained to do more e.g. till controller, supervisor etc) are commonplace. You probably won't be able to 'negotiate' it as such, but that doesn't mean that everyone is paid the same, it varies with responsibility and time spent working there.

For example, I started out on £4.70 ph or something, then up to £5.40 or so when I completed my training, and now up to £6.30 after a yearly review. I'm expecting another (£7 please!) in a few months :cool: Good wages for a student, especially when the option to do overtime arises as well.

Its not rubbish. You get annual pay raises yes, but nothing else is negotiable. Those are for everyone that works in most supermarkets. You dont get paid extra for taking on extra jobs. I were trained up on tills, shelve stacking on every single isle, warehouse storing and customer service desk with managers complaining over where I were needed to work all the time, and I were still paid the same as the people sat on checkouts all day everyday. I were even told by my manager in one of my end of year reviews that I were the most skilled person in the store simply due to never refusing to do any job and doing anything that was required, and after 4 years I were still paid the same as new people who were joining and sat on checkouts all day long and refusing to do any other job. But I couldnt complain, people who had been working there for decades into their older years were still earning the same rate as new people as well. It depends on which supermarket it is I suppose, but they usually dont pay you any extra for doing the same job as anyone else regardless of training or how long you have been there.

Anyway just back from the interview and they where just asking about hours I was willing to work, told me it was a hard shift etc. Hopefully they'll phone back tomorrow when their store manager comes and give me a job :cool:.

lidl's graduate scheme is in the top 5 in the uK according to The Times. Start off on 40k + an Audi A4 free and get to 60K in 3 years. :eek:
 
How long should you wait for an interviewer to get back before writing it off? I guess they might be checking my references (school/uni) but it'll be 2 weeks come monday :(

Edit:
Didnt get the job, I guess someone who was willing to do more hours came along and robbed it off me :o.
