Just a quick bit of advnice please folks.. Im going to Coalville tomorrow for an interview with a recovery garage, to work in their control room (2.5k more than my current job :D) and im wondering.. even though they have already had my CV via email, is it still worth taking a CV with me too? i've already decided im gonna take a note-pad with me, but I havnt done this in nearlly a year, is there anything else I should be taking?

Ah this must be Arthur Jones Motors.

I know somebody who works there. Ive already tipped them off to have a read through your past posts here to get an idea of your character :)

Great thing the internet.

Remember to ask before you start writing in an interview though :) I have not usually taken a copy of my CV for the prospective employer they are interviewing you based on a CV they have already shortlisted, just a copy for yourself.

Good luck, just do not say you are moving for more money :D

A good interviewer should have your CV to hand, but its best to always have a spare with you. In your folder/paper I'd write down an questions you want to ask... that way you won't forget them in the heat of the moment... It also shows you are prepared and did some research and obviously want the job.

haha, very good..

I've never took a CV with me to an interview if I've sent it them already. I've never took a notepad and pen either, or any proof of my qualifications. Used to take my ROA after leaving school but not anymore.
Would definately be good to ask your interviewer before you start writing though, as thepharcyde says, would just come across rude otherwise.

Just make sure you've researched plenty about the company beforehand and have half a dozen questions remembered in your head - best to have more as some will certainly be answered in the interview.

Answer questions confidently and backup your answers with examples drawn from your experience. Try to be relaxed - I know this seems impossible, but some simple breathing excersizes while you're waiting to be interviewed really do help.

And, perhaps the main thing (for me anyhow) is make sure you give a good, confident and firm handshake. Your interviewer won't want to be shaking hands with a wet lettuce.

Good luck anyhow! :)

Mate thats a 45 miles commute each way, thats 500 miles per week, or over 20,000 per year, out of your own pocket along a rubbish congested route which will take you hours every day.

You havnt thought this through, that will be hell and totally not worth it for a job like this.

He lives at home and even then barely scrapes by, he has posted on his financials quite a few times. Therefore i have assumed this is not going to be the case.

500 business miles per week will a) not be affordable given the small salary increase, and b) not be worth making a net loss over a local job, given the hours it will take to commute between the two locations.

Where 500 comes from I dont know... i'll only be doing an extra 20 Miles a day.. so only 250 Miles a week.. which equals 1000 a month... and 12k a year? as im only 25 Miles from the place.. I already travel the best part of 20m to work ne way!

New place is 25 miles from home? If thats right along a dual carriageway fair enough. If its congested it's not worth the bother.

It is... its all A5, then M42 then A42 and your there..

Edit: Sorry it is Coalville, so its 30 odd

I commute 30 miles each way from south derbyshire, dont touch the main roads apart from the first 5 miles then its all country roads, nicest commute ever just a shame I have to work in Coalville :(

I wouldn't do it either. I bet the extra mileage and travelling costs wouldn't leave you much left after your 2.5k rise per year. Also, think of the extra amount of time it takes to get to and from work.

I commute 45 miles each way currently and it is a pain in the backside. That’s 90% motorway driving too.
