INTRODUCING THE NEW OCUK PREMIUM QUANTUM SFF RANGE

Is there any more info on the "Quantum Cobalt"

What sort of information are you after?

Technically its very similar to the "Quantum Shadow" but with a i5 750 and a 5870. The case is slightly larger aswell with more fans installed for better airflow. It also comes with an SSD and a storage drive.

So over the "Quantum Shadow" the "Quantum Cobalt" will have/be:
-Faster bootup/loading time/s
-Better graphical performance
-Better multitasking performance
-Improved cooling
-More storage

The "Quantum Cobalt" will be the next system we will be testing.

Let me know if you have any more qeustions

I'm on the fence at the moment, i have norrowed down my choices to the Titan Silhouette and the Quantum Cobalt.

With reguards to the Cobalt, I would really like to know ;

  • If a Zalman VF3000 will fit on a 5850 inside the PC-Q08 with the psu inside?
  • If a Powercolour PCS+ will fit inside the PC-QO8 with the psu inside?
  • If you can access the motherboard easily when the psu is in the way (is it just a quick unplug and move), if the mb needs maintenance?
  • If could allso spec a machine useing this to put a hd in the 5.25 bay to improve the airflow abit (getting rid of the 'top' part of the HD mounting and leaving the SSD in the bottom or putting in the EX-bay and not having a optic drive etc?
  • If a H50 will fit inside the PC-QO8 to give the i5 a good chance at getting 3.4/3.6ghz o/c?

Thanks :)

P.s. Any temps / stress testing on the Quantum Cobalt would be very intresting

  • If a Zalman VF3000 will fit on a 5850 inside the PC-Q08 with the psu inside? Yes it will but is a close fit.
  • If a Powercolour PCS+ will fit inside the PC-QO8 with the psu inside? Yes
  • If you can access the motherboard easily when the psu is in the way (is it just a quick unplug and move), if the mb needs maintenance? Yes the PSU uses 4 thubscrews to come out and has its own mounting plate that connects to the rear.
  • If could allso spec a machine useing this to put a hd in the 5.25 bay to improve the airflow abit (getting rid of the 'top' part of the HD mounting and leaving the SSD in the bottom or putting in the EX-bay and not having a optic drive etc? Yes we can spec this for you, no problem at all.
  • If a H50 will fit inside the PC-QO8 to give the i5 a good chance at getting 3.4/3.6ghz o/c? No, the H50 doesnt fit without modification to the mouting bracket, I am not sure the pump/block will have enough clearence before hitting the PSU either.

Thanks :)

The Cobalt on full load is looking around the 70-80C mark with a small overclock (3.00GHz) that is with the stock cooler however. The GPU with the Zalman VF3000 is very cool even with stock cooling the GPU sits behind a 140mm intake so there is plenty of airflow there.

If you are wondering which to choose out of the Silhouette or Cobalt

The Cobalt is a lot smaller but the Silhouette has better cooling and overall performance (6 core AMD) it all depends what you want to use your system for.

Personally I would choose the Cobalt because the performance to size ratio (if their is such a thing!) is awesome. Its soo much power in one tiny box.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Cheers Guys you have answered pretty much answered all my questions, Im gonna wait till you guys test the system Will be interesting to see how it performs :D

the 08cases, with a h55 and a stock cooler psu etc, what the loudest noise you get from that rig, and what does it compare to?
stock cooler loud, worth replacing it for more silence?

i would like to see the insides of these builds in person :) pictures don't do it justice

usually i am all about cavernous cases with loads of water in there

but i am taking a shining to these SFF builds

i wish we had a better camera available at the time. the hardware really is a marvel. that little giga h55 board impressed me more than the UD9!

there is no denying that a brushed aluminium shoe box that plays BC2 on 24" is impressive. its also a challenge as a system builder to get it looking neat and tidy :D

I think i could get the H50 to fit useing this. Maybe even two of them for 140mm intake and 140mm exhaust? :D

The only last problem i see, is i cant fit my fan controller. And have know idea as to what the Gigabyte H55N board has in the way of fan slots.

There is one 4 pin CPU header and one 3 pin standard fan header.

Sorry if this is a dumb question: What is a DVD±RW drive? I saw it listed in both builds. I have googled and results only seemed to suggest DVD audio. Obviously it's DVD ±R and ±RW but what does the "Â" mean? Thanks!
