I have a couple of ideas for what I think would be good inventions, these will never be persued by myself so I will post them here in the hope that someone else will read them and they will be made multi-millionaires.

Parcel drop box. I have had to go and collect parcels so many times that have been delivered to my house when I have been at work or not in for some other reason. Some sort of small drop box, similar to a franked mail collection by the door. Obviously this would have to be small enough not to be an eye sore but big enough to fit a average parcel in (2ft x 4ft maybe?). Maybe one has already been created - If so please let me know so I can get one

Methane energy collector
This will be slightly more complicated to design and create but will make someone a fortune - simliar to running cars on water. So much energy can be harvested from human waste but to my knowledge there is nothing that does. My idea would be to let waste build up in a safe compartment underground for maybe a month and let the methane collect above the compartment in small containers, maybe compressed methane if this is possible. After so much waste, maybe a weight, of waste has collected then the de-methaned waste is released to the sewers. This would then be safer for sewers as the deadly methane is removed.

Im not sure what happens to the methane at treatment plants but I imagine it is put to some sort of use. Everyone has a toilet in their house so there much be a lot of methane wated which would be converted to energy somehow

I think within 20 years this invention will be created and someone will be very rich

What invention ideas do you have that you would like to share?

Parcel drop boxes already exist and royal mail, even let you agree a safe place.

As for methane, several uses of waste have been invented. Turning waste into bricks is one and using it as fertilisers in vertical farming. Although atm there are no vertical farms.

methane collection has been looked at, so I assume it must not be cost effective. Or maybe it's a lack of need for methane itself.

Is that a safe place for them to leave the "while you were out card" even though you are in, he didn't knock and you can see him put the "while you were out card" thorugh the door? :D

Somebody has been watching Dragons Den tonight....Food delivery drop boxes....

This biogas digester was created by a Brother of a friend of mine in Kenya.

Flexible Biogas

I was over there a week a go, and saw it working, its amazing! It supplies a house with its gas needs (which in Nairobi is admittedly just for cooking!) for 2 lots of cow poo a week!

I would not call myself an inventor... But I have 2 awards for the Young Inventors Competition when I was a kid. Then at Uni I bagged 2 Royal Society of Arts Design awards (woot).

Now at the grand of age of 35 I have accidentally invented something that has put me into a different world. That world is that of "Toys" Holy hell I am in front of the worlds largest toy company next week. Things could get very interesting after that!

I would love to share what it is, but due to legal stuff I can't. Lets say if it gets accepted, my life will change dramatically for the better, and most of you would buy it (I hope).

For those of you who want to see what I do, check the laser cutter thread.

All the very best with your invention Pinter75 :) A wee word of warning though ....

My mate had thought of an idea years ago after the birth of his first child. He spent a couple of years doing research and finding out about patents etc. He even had to give up his job so that he could devote all of the time he had to his invention. He kept his cards very close to his chest and was overwhelmed when he got to see the head honchos who own Mother Care. After his initial visit he came back looking very promising but needed to raise £50K to cover international patents and was struggling to come up with the cash. After going backwards and forwards to various people for the next 5 months or so he was gutted to find that his idea that they were very interested in didn't interest them anymore. Not 4 months later he saw his invention being advertised on TV. What was it? It was the kettle that could boil a cup of tea in seconds. The design he had wasn't for heating up tea though, it was for heating up babies bottles when you were out and about. He was gutted beyond belief and we soon watched him starting on a long slippery slope which just made him more and more depressed everyday. He had people wanting to invest in his invention (he got offered £100K at one point) but he turned them all down. Just make sure you have all of your bases covered matey as you don't want someone out there nicking your idea and reaping in all of the beer vouchers for it leaving you empty handed and extremely bitter.

Once again Pinter75, all the very best mate :D

The problem with missed parcels isnt that the delivery people dont have anywhere to put it, the problem is they cant let you have it until it's signed for.

You can write to the Royal Mail and authorise the postie to sign for parcels on your behalf. I had a customer who done this when I worked for them. It's not something I would do myself though ....Nooooooo sireeeeee :p

Cheers dude,

I do have a very good agent, in fact he has invented a toy you will all know about. As ever I can't divulge too much but am in the very best of hands. Nothing I have done is patentable. I do hope I can share with you guys at some point, it has been a very interesting month!
