Inverted Y-Axis

Yes me and a mate do this and get stick from others. Not sure why i do it though, as i don't play with a mouse inverted just a pad.

Is Y-Axis the look up/down one? (I always get mixed up)

Anyway if it is, then yes I can't play a game unless I invert up/down Axis, I think it goes back to my Quakeworld days.

Yea the up and down one! Not one single mate has theres inverted so i get loads of hassle for it! Suppose its probably quite annoying pausing a game whilst i mess around with the settings! Its quite annoying when you forget to change it aswell so you play with it the wrong way round for a bit till you notice (yea i can be that slow!) so when you invert it back again it feels weird! Kinda stuck in between the two! Annoying!

They both make sense, it just depends whether you feel you're controlling a camera behind the characters head, or controlling the characters head.

I control the Y axis sideways, that's how hardcore I am.

In flight sims and such I have inverted Y-axis, but everything else is pretty much normal, as in up goes up and so on.

Is that the one you get the option to swap between at the beginning of Halo?

I always leave it as default. Which i guess is just Press up to look up and press down to look down, I just feel more comfortable that way.

Inverted here too, also probably as Quake II started me doing it on the PC... phew, 11 years ago!

I can't play any other way now, especially on PC with keyboard and mouse... if it's not inverted, I literally can't play it at all, and end up running around looking at the sky ;)

But yeah, using a pad, inverted suits me better too.

After a long time PC gamer I picked up an xbox 360 recently and noticed I always have to invert the Y-axis.

I'm not sure why but I should imagine it came from the years of playing x-wing/tie-fighter and the privateer games on PC with a joystick... Played the occasional flight too!

This is the main reason people invert Y-axis (whether they realise/admit it or not). At some point they have played FPS or flight games or some other first person camera game on a PC and have got used to using inverted controls (which are default on most PC games, controlled with a mouse).

I invert it in every game I play on 360 or ps3.

Always invert too probably stems from goldeneye64

Bravo! Every thing stems from golden eye and perfect dark :) and xwing alliance (Too young for xwing vs tie fighter)

I too get a lot of stick for doing this in gaming aswell, always prefer to modify my controls a bit, being default is giving in, using different controls to better yourself is the best way, such as green thumb in halo is the only way.

Strangely enough I used to invert on Goldeneye and Xwing Vs Tie Fighter but never do it anymore. I also rarely game on my PC now so that may also have something to do with it.
