Is there such a program that can make invoices? I can't really get to grips with Excel, and I've designed the look of it in Photoshop so was thinking of just doing it in there, but would take too long. Anything simpler?

Thanks for all the links. I tried iWork but it was too hard to understand. Now using Billing2 to see if its any better. So far, so good! Very easy to customise invoices and it is also handy for recording times when I'm working which will also be useful.

what is this "Billing2" i've googled for it but can't find nuthin... was it a misspell or something?

I've just installed the demo of Billable, it looks pretty good but gonna see how it takes to a custom invoice template :)

ahh right, had a play but it doesnt seem as nice to use as billable...

does anyone know of an app like billable which also supports the cataloguing of outgoing costs as well as incoming money/invoices?

would be nice to keep track of both moneys in and out in one app but which still being lightweight unlike your traditional massive accounting apps...

yeah id definitely recommend billable. Billings was too overcomplicated in places I thought. Also once I had created invoices in it it seemed like a lot of work to go back , add new items and regenerate the invoice. Billable is much easier to use IMO. The next versions are hopefuly shipping with different templates too but the standard template can be tweaked in this version but it might be too much effort.

Sorry, but any advice on how to tweak the template? Cant find it anywhere.

basically, you copy the template from somewhere in the package contents then put an edited copy in the application support bit of your library...

if one is present, it will use that.

i found the best way to make a bespoke one is to create it like a web page with all dummy text, get it how you want, then swap your dummy text for variables (wrapped in double curly-brackets ({{ & }}) and you're done :)
