iOS 6.1 just released

I want to jailbreak my iPhone 5.

As I've never had a iPhone and never jail broken.. I'm assuming I don't update to this new update that apple have released. Currently on iOS 6.0.1.

I'm I right? Or can someone shed me some light please.

There's no jailbreak for 6.x yet, but a jailbreak for 6.1 is rumoured to be coming out any day.

I'd stay on 6.0.1 until we know for sure, though. General rule of JBing is that it's better to stay on a lower version until a JB is released.

Thanks for that. Il just stay on what I'm on right now until confirmation.

cant believe they have only just brought back the ability to delete individuals songs/albums for itunes match users

whoever decided to take that out in 6.0 needs shooting

Some patch notes:

  • - Larger "Report a Problem" button in Maps
  • - New music controls on lock screen when you double-press home button
  • - Siri can now purchase movie tickets via Fandango (USA only)
  • - LTE now works with several European and American carriers
  • - Individual songs can once again be downloaded or deleted when using iTunes Match
  • - New, persistent Passbook pass explaining service functionality.
  • - The sample card within Passbook has been updated slightly for those in the United Kingdom, changing “movie tickets” to “cinema tickets” in the first sentence, and “theaters” to “cinemas” in the last sentence.
  • - Reset Advertising Identifier button now works.
  • - New cellular data option for iTunes.
  • - Voice Dial Only mode for Siri.
  • - When setting up an iOS device for the first time with iCloud, it will now ask you to confirm your Apple ID password for FaceTime and iMessages. It will also ask you to confirm how you’d like people to reach you, and tells you that you can change these settings at any time later on.

From what I've read, they have managed to jailbreak the iPhone 5 on 6.0.1, but didn't want to release it, otherwise Apple would then patch it up for 6.1, undoing all the work. So yes, you should expect a jailbreak for 6.1 relatively soon.

lol @ the guys commenting on the MacRumours thread. Seems like they were expecting a new OS or something! Wonder if they have ever used updates before!

This ^^^^

Why on earth they pulled individual song management is completely beyond me.... At least it's back now.

After tinkering with TouchPal and using the wife's GSiii, I want a trace keyboard again though. Really miss it from my Nexii days. Might have to traipse over to MacRumors and started goading them on there.
