iOS 8.3 is up along with new EE carrier update

This couldn't have came at a better time, just upgraded from a iPhone 4s to a iPhone 6 but get no signal at work on EE.
Connected to a good wifi network though so this will save me loads of hassle if it works!

It's a great idea however it hasn't been implemented very well. By default it will use your Wifi however if you loose that Wifi signal the call will drop :s Hopefully they setup roaming between wifi and mobile signal soon

I've been using an old 4S since yesterday, as my Nexus 4 is playing up a bit...
Expected it to be an unusable mess, but with 8.3 install and factory reset, seems to still have some life in it.
Far slower than the Nexus, but I can't have something that's shutting down randomly.

I accidentally put it on my 5s instead of the intended 8.2 update. 470mb but it didn't seem to download anywhere near that much. Seems stable enough. They've fixed that forum menu selection problem that I (and a few others) were having on this forum.

I can finally see the countdown timer on my lock screen again instead of just a load of zeros. That feature was broken on my old iPhone 5 as well as my 6.

There was a fix for that, I can't remember what it was by my wifes iP4 was doing it. Had to turn something off and on again... or something. Oh yes, I think she'd set her display time to 12hr instead of 24hr, changed it then changed it back and it was working again. Madness.

So does the wifi calling kick in when signal is lost?

I'm on ee iPhone 5s

Cheers

Yes but it won't transfer a call in progress either way and only works in the UK.

After the 8.3 ISO upgrade and the EE 19.1 carrier update, you need to change Settings | Phone | Wifi Calls | Allow Wi-Fi Calls.

Doh! I suppose I should have googled for a fix 2 years ago. How silly of me to think they might fix it in the next release, over an over again.

lol, did they really take them away?

I'm kind of disappointed they only added the colour shift to the 'people' emojis and not the normal smileys too.

If I were to hazard I guess I'd say the smileys get used much more than the people.

Thanks! I'm assuming it won't allow me to make calls abroad on wifi?

Mart

Not at the moment. On the EE website they say it's blocked.

The cynic in me says it's not a technical issue but because they'd lose roaming charges which I imagine are very profitable.
