I kinda like the parallels with software development, in how they broke down the tasks to be done, then allocated % machine time or effort relative to jobs that got the best result, either in terms of importance, or could be cracked quickly. Fascinating. Though dry at times. Kinda books you dip into over time. I'll look that one up cheers.

The book I read was "Colossus: The secrets of Bletchley Park's code-breaking computers [Paperback] by B. Jack Copeland and others " it was very interesting from a computing/programming perspective.

Simon's book is very readable. Although it does dip into the mathematics and algorithms it concentrates a fair bit on the human side of it and the general history of encryption. The book gave me enough information to create the simulation, so plenty of detail as well.

Likewise, I'll have a read of that book. I suppose that without Enigma and the efforts to crack the device, modern general purpose computing may have been delayed by a number of years. Fascinating topic, especially when you look at both the theoretical as well as the sociological side.
