Well I could be wrong with this but i was looking forward to having a nice background amounsgt others things but what a let down. I knew there would be no multi rtasking but I not bothered about that. The thing is though why on earth can;t the 3G have a background? It's just, i'll say it, ludicrous. Is there any other way of getting one on there?

Apparently the 3G couldn't copy with the new icon animations and havig a custom background too, it ran too slow - at least according to apple. Don't know why the did't just disable the new animation and allow backgrounds though.

The 3G feels really sluggish with IOS4 full stop. My partner upgraded his and having seen it I decided not to bother.

(we've both since sold them and each got an iPhone 4 though - much better!)

You get "Folders" which are a nice addition, plus iOS4 introduces new API's which some apps will use - these apps would be unavailable (or lack function) on earlier OS versions. It is a shame though that the hardware isn't up to operating the two headline features though.

I have to say, I dont know what it is in regards to the programming but I jailbroke my OLD 3g iphone and enabling backgrounds ran it into the ground in terms of speed, iv no idea why, disabled it ran 3x faster.

Apple's implementation of wallpapers?

It's due to new animations when opening and closing an app. An animation if the lockscreen and homescreen have different images and all those shadows behind app and app labels that enable them to be read no matter what wallpaper is used.

I have ios4 and allthe features it should have had and even my old 3g works perfect and doesnt slow down hardly any. Total bs from apple.
