iOS7 Does NOT Make Phone Waterproof!

Nice to see the apple hate cool kids piling in too :p

This isn't necessarily Apple Hate more Exasperation at the Idocy of these people... all of whom happen to be apple customers... If the same was done with the Android/Windows Phones We'd probably get a similar story... although somewhat less of a number of these idiots!

I'm joining the "not the product; it's the users". Nothing wrong with an iPhone if you've not iOS7'ed it and taken it for a bath ;)

I thought this was a joke, I didn't realise so many people had tried it. But then again, when you read some people's tweets and FB posts it's not surprising.

I remember a few people on here said that their monitor's weren't working as touch screen after they'd moved to Windows 7.

-Yes, Windows 7 add's native touchscreen support. But you still need touchscreen hardware!

Christ you people are ruthless, it may seem absurd on a techy forum but a lot of people are not so technologically aware. Doesn't make them sheeple or idiots. Not everybody knows that internet is full of a-holes who create a lot of misinformation to bring harm to people who are less aware of certain things.

You've got to be at least a little bit simple though to fall for it. You'd surely check with Apple via the website or something before deliberately submerging your £500/600 phone... :/

How have these people made it this far in life.....

It is easy to laugh, But this reveals far deeper problems! Not just for individuals but for socioty as a whole!

The people who fell for this are not necessarily Fools, Idiots or Morons! What they are are people (Users of technology) who have not the remotest idea of how the technology that they use and rely on on a day to day basis actually works!

It might as well be magic and powered by Black Forest Fairies! Put in this context, the idea that an OS upgrade may make the device waterproof is not really that absurd.

Consider the following analogy. I go back a thousand years or so with a bottle of streptomycin and demonstrate that I can cure people of the Plague simply by giving them a few pink pills! I then claim that I can "cure" a broken leg by giving them some blue pills! Since the first cure might as well be magic, they will have no reason to disbelieve the second one!

This represents a dramatic change over my lifetime. When I was young most people had at least some idea of how their day-to-day technology worked. Not only was it pretty basic and easy to understand, You had too! It simply wasn't reliable enough to operate for months (or even years) without some tinkering (Particularly motor cars, in the 60's and 70's your average motorist had to do a fair amount of maintenance and checks on pretty well a weekly basis)

We now live in a society where most people are totally overwhelmed by it all. They push the buttons and the lights come on but they have no real idea why or how!

Perhaps I am over reacting but I wouldn't be surprised if less than 1:20 people has any real idea of how anything works and that bothers me#

(#For instance, It is how people can delude themselves, or be deluded by others, into believing that a couple of acres of solar panels or half a dozen windmills can produce power on the same scale as, say, Sizewell B!)

I submerge my phone all the time. Go swimming with it even, when on call. Of course I was sensible enough to purchase a Sony Xperia Z.

If you're stupid enough to submerge £500 worth of electrical device with open speaker holes and exposed electrical contacts, you deserve it.

We are talking here about people being deceived. On it's own, it's wrong to assume that a certain piece of electronic equipment is waterproof. However in this case, people were misled.

As for all the "LOL" replies to my comments, I have this to say, life will make you humble with time, get your plump buttocks ready ;)
