Been looking at home security and using ip cameras. now the one problem i have is possible power outages.

is there a way to have a backup battery that would work with the ip cameras something that could go inbetween power in and the ip camera.

then would require a ups system to be able to handle the router and/or a pc using a EVGA Supernova G2 650W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply. plus monitor.

so two options just ip cameras and router as stored in cloud. but option two to cover pc and monitor.

length of ups time (options ?)

but all depends on ip camera power backup.

One option is to have your IP cameras PoE capable and have a switch (such as the TP-Link TL-SG1008PE) that can power all your cameras. Then one UPS for the switch covers all your cameras. Your method of internet connection or local storage would need to be on the UPS too.

POE cameras will be a good option, stick the POE power providing device onto a UPS and you're good to go.

Very mission impossible style though if your burglars are cutting your power before they break in!

i would use POE but the position of camera and all the cabling is the main issue. hence why i was looking for batteries that go onto camera. i know you can get backup battery supplies for phones and other devices so was looking for something similar for ip cameras. where i live we get a lot of power cuts outages during winter. so not so much burglars issue. have people in flat 7 days week carers and its easy to unplug camera by accident when cleanoing. but if battery unit attached to ip camera and high up on ceiling then it will ensure continued recording if mains power down by unplugging or by power outage.

i cant do all poe cabling unfortunately. would need to hire contractor to come in and do that as handyman not able to fit ieee cable ends as dont know how. they can a fix cameras ok.

A quick google reveals that you can get battery powered ip cameras, which surprises me. Good luck with that though, you'll be forever changing or charging batteries, doubt they would last the week if capturing a lot of motion.
