So I bought an IP camera on flea bay and now in order to get it working I have to install HeroSpeedCMS.exe from Guangzhou software Inc.

I think I may pass, unless some people here already use that and can vouch for it not being a malware package?

Don't have Synology and can't find the camera using any tools I am familiar with.

There's only a MAC address on a sticker on the camera which is a 960p Sony.
No network address on there.

I'm using a PoE injector that only runs at 0.35A and the camera is rated for 1mA so maybe there's my problem.

Thank you chaps.

The easiest thing to do is plug it into your switch, then put yourself on the common subnets for these things, either 192.168.0 or 192.168.1, and then run angry IP scanner.

Do yourself a favor then and buy BlueIris - it's £40 if you pay in dollars and works flawlessly.

The address itself will be given by the router, you'll need to check the DHCP list to see what IP the router has assigned it.

Thanks gents,

I ordered a 12v/1A capable PoE injector and we'll see if it shows up on the network anywhere when it's plugged into that.

BlueIris looks very good too.

I use BlueIris and it works really well. I don't know how much the other CCTV software costs but BlueIris is around £55.
