What are people using? Sky don't offer a fixed IP address and I have setup remote web access on my home server.

Now I'm not sure it will change that often...But it would be cool to get an email when it did...So I could update my DNS settings on my domain

Thanks

Quick Google came up with this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipmonitor

Or you could use http://www.noip.com/ - last time I used this was almost 10 years ago, they give you a subdomain and you install a small program which checks the IP and updates the DNS record automatically. With the paid service I think you can use your own domains with it. It says there's ads on the free service but no idea how they're delivered.

Personally my IP address hasn't changed in almost 7 years since I've been with Virgin. Even 4 speed upgrades and 3 modems later it's the same, I have it memorised like my mobile number :p

A slightly different option, but I added my gmail account to the Windows mail client. If my IP changes I can then look at who's accessing my gmail and get the new IP.

I've been a user of No-ip for many years, it has a tray client that updates the IP automatically so your sub domain keeps working no matter where its coming from.

You can use DynDNS with a Sky Router, no software required - and you can still have a free account just for dynamic dns you just have to cancel the trial.

Options..

Use no-ip/dyndns etc (very easy once you look into it)

Or tell your ISP that you're going to leave if you don't get a static IP. -Worth a blast!

Zen internet give you a static IP. (never looked into it myself, so many others probably do too)
