One of the teachers' iPads is not displaying anything on its screen. There is no obvious physical damage to the screen in terms of water sloshing around or an dents/cracks.

I wanted to work out if the iPad itself was broken or whether it was just the screen so I connected the iPad to my monitor using an iPad connector to VGA adapter. I discovered that the iPad was working fine so something has obviously caused the screen to stop working.

The teacher keeps the iPad in her office when she's not using it and turning it off and back on again hasn't brought the screen back to life. I've also tried holding the Home button simultaneously with the wake button to no avail.

Can anyone suggest any other steps I can take to either fix the problem or work out what the problem might be before I give up and speak to the company we bought the iPad from or Apple for a repair?

the only way to find out if the old screen is faulty or logic board has problem is to open up and try a new screen. if the new screen doesn't work then you know...

Not sure I have the skills for this and wouldn't want to do this on a work iPad anyway. :)

Shine a bright light at the screen to see if it is just the back light that has failed.
Nice idea. I have a mini torch on my work keys so I'll try that.
