Hi,

My old trusty ipad 2 is unusable now due to the latest is updates. Any pointers on rollong back to an older iOS version please?

Reset to factory settings and only install minimal stuff.

Even my iPad4 was dog slow with a fresh install, I can't imagine you'd get an iPad 2 tolerably fast enough anymore.

Apple block rolling back to earlier versions of iOS too.

I gave up and bought a new one. The Pro 10.5 is a thing of beauty to be fair.

Not surprised its 6 years old! I would suggest that what you are trying to do with it has moved on much more than you are giving the iPad credit for. The web has certainly become much more rich than it once was. Apps have moved on also. A 6 year old laptop would also feel slow compared to a new one.

Please remember it only has 512mb of ram the newest ones have 8x this. I remember back then it was hampered by the lack of memory let alone now.

I gave up with mine late last year and sold it to CEX for £89. My daughter was using it as a hand-down but she then had my mini 2 (which I've had for almost 4 years) and I had a mini 4. I wouldn't waste your time and effort on it. It is a shame that they get updated to IOS versions that they can't handle properly. You can watch a video review of any ipad at release, and it will be running fine. Saying that, the Mini 2 has never missed a beat.

I think you're on a hiding to nothing here. I finally put my iPad 2 out to rest earlier this year and replaced it with a 10.5 pro. the iPad 2 just wasn't enjoyable even for basic browsing any more.

I recently replaced my iPad 3 with the iPad Pro 10.5, it was crawling through treacle kind of slow and i doubt any amount of wiping would have made a difference. The pro is greased lightning fast in comparison.

My iPad 2 is exactly the same , it's just what happens with apple products I just use mine for radio and sky go ( which takes an age to load but once running it's fine )

If you think that is slow though you want to try using my old iPhone 3GS haha
