That's just not true though is it. Certainly not what I do with a PC.

Not for the first two things there. Basic web/email and general usage tablets do fine, but anything intensive you'd be best using a notebook or desktop machine, you'd feel like cutting your hands off after extensive typing on the tablets At least that's how I feel.

What do you require from the printer? If you want fantastic print quality, you can get an AirPrint-enabled Canon, but that will be cost more than a less capable HP model.

Budget?

I'd recommend the SX445W, I've got an older non AirPrint model but it's a great printer and cheap ink.

Bought an Ipad 2 last week from ***mit, used a mobile phone voucher, it gives a 10 % discount, can be found on there site. I looked at the 2 and 3 together and it appeared to me there was't a great deal of difference between them, the ipad 3 was 399 which was well over a 100 pounds more.
